Susumu Aoyagi (Pianist) was born in Managua, Nicaragua and started piano lessons at the age of five. He made his orchestral debut with the Fort Worth Symphony, conducted by John Giordano at the age of nine.
He became winner of the Japan National Music Competition for Students, followed by receiving the West Japan Music Award. Aoyagi is prizewinner of the Marguerite-Long/Jacques-Thibauld International Competiton 1992(Paris),and has also received 1st prizes at
numerous international competitions including the "Alfredo Casella" "Ennio Porrino"in Italy, and the "Jaen" in Spain.
He has made orchestral and solo appearances through out Germany, France,the United States, Finnland, Tzech, Spain, Italy and Japan.
After receiving the 28th Chopin-Society Awards of Japan in April/2002.
He has made numeruos apperances thruoghout Japan and has performed with various important orchestras.
Each of his 5 solo-CD recordings have been highly acclaimed .
He has studied with teachers as Yuko Fujimura, Fujiko Yamada, Lili Kraus,Klaus Hellwig, and Pascal Devoyon. Since 2001 he has been
appointed associate professor of piano at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music(GEIDAI).
