Grâce à la brillance et au sens artistique de ses interprétations, le pianiste américain Jeffrey Cohen suscite en permanence un intérêt international. Le New York Times a loué la « lucidité et la poésie » de son jeu.

Que ce soit en soliste ou pour la musique de chambre, M. Cohen a été amené à se produire sur trois continents différents. Ses récitals comportent des performances pour la Chamber Music Society du Lincoln Center, le Merkin Concert Hall, Bargemusic, la Collection Phillips, Mostly Music Series de Chicago, le St. Lawrence Center, et le Centre National des arts à Ottawa. L’été, M. Cohen a participé en tant que professeur ou artiste invité à des festivals de premier rang, notamment Bowdoin, Waterloo, Musicorda, Orford, Summit, Texas Music Festival et Seoul Summer Music Camp. Il est actuellement professeur au Madeline Island Music Camp. Le premier enregistrement de M. Cohen, un ensemble d’œuvres de musique de chambre française, a été acclamé par Fanfare Magazine. Il s’est produit dans l’émission « Performance Today » de la National Public Radio, ainsi que sur CBC Radio Network, Radio Canada, Radio France et WQXR.

Outre son activité de concertiste, les talents d’enseignant de M. Cohen ont fait de lui l’un des pédagogues les plus importants de sa génération. Ses élèves ont remporté des prix dans des concours renommés et connaissent des carrières brillantes en tant que professeurs ou concertistes. M. Cohen est actuellement professeur et artiste à la Manhattan School of Music de New-York. Il a donné des master class à la Jacob School of Music de l’Indiana University, au Central Conservatory de Pékin, au Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleau, au Barnard College, à la Wilfrid Laurier University, ainsi qu’en Corée, à Taiwan et en Chine. Né ) Tucson, M. Cohen a fait ses études à Indiana University où il a travaillé avec le pianiste Menahem Pressler et a reçu le très convoité Battista Memorial Award. Il a été lauréat de la Fondation Beethoven ainsi que du concours Sherman-Clay Steinway. Il vit à Manhattan avec sa femme, la violoniste Lucie Robert, et leur fils, Jeremy.

American pianist Jeffrey Cohen continues to draw international attention to the brilliance and artistry of his interpretations. Mr. Cohen has been praised by The New York Times for the “lucidity and poetry” of his playing.

Both as soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Cohen’s performances have taken him to three different continents. Recitals include appearances for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, Bargemusic, the Phillips Collection, Mostly Music Series of Chicago, the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and the National Arts Center of Ottawa. In the summers, Mr. Cohen has been a faculty member or guest artist at major music festivals including Bowdoin, Waterloo, Musicorda, Orford, Summit, Texas Music Festival, Seoul Summer Music Camp, Shanghai International Piano Festival & Institute, and the Beijing International Music Festival. He currently serves on the summer faculties of the MusicAlp International Academy of Music in France and the Bravo International Music Academy. Mr. Cohen’s debut recording, a collection of French chamber music with his wife and duo partner violinist Lucie Robert, received critical acclaim in Fanfare magazine. He has performed for broadcasts on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today,” the CBC Radio Network, Radio Canada, Radio France and WQXR.

In addition to his concert activities, Mr. Cohen’s teaching gifts have established him as a leading piano pedagogue of his generation. His students have won prizes in major competitions and enjoy successful careers as performers and teachers. For over twenty-five years, Mr. Cohen has been a piano professor and member of the artist faculty at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where he currently serves as Coordinator of Piano Master Classes and Departmental Competitions. He has given master classes at prestigious institutions such as the Jacobs School of Music, Eastman School of Music, Central Conservatory in Beijing, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Seoul National University, Boston University School of Music and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore.

A native of Tucson, Mr. Cohen studied at Indiana University where he worked with legendary pianist Menahem Pressler and received the coveted Battista Memorial Award. He is a past Laureate of the Beethoven Foundation and a prizewinner of the Sherman-Clay Steinway Piano Competition.
