D’origine japonaise, titulaire d’un brillant Premier Prix au Concours J.S.Bach de Tokyo, Reiko Hozu obtient en 1996 le Diplôme de Soliste auprès d’Oleg Maisenberg à la Staatliche Hochschule für Musik de Stuttgart et suit la classe de Perfectionnement d’Homéro Francesch au Konservatorium de Zürich qui lui décerna le Landolt-Preis.
Tout en ayant bénéficié des précieux conseils d’Evgueni Malinin, ce qui fait d’elle une interprète privilégiée des grandes œuvres russes et romantiques, et en France développant ses aspirations artistiques au hasard de rencontres avec des personnalités telles que Jean Hubeau, Jacques Rouvier, Jean Koerner, Alain Marion, Raymond Guiot, Michèle Auclair, Christophe Eschenbach ou encore Jorge Donn.
Mais son répertoire de s’est très vite enrichi des créations majeures du 20èmesiècle :
L.Berio, G.Ligeti, M.Kagel, “Pétrouchka” à l’Opéra-Garnier (dir. Paul Connelly) et le “Concerto pour piano et vents” de Stravinsky (avec l’ODIF, dir. Jonathan Stockhammer), le “Kammerkonzert” de A.Berg, Les “3 Petits Liturgies” d’O.Messiaen…ainsi qu’une Intégrale des 14 “Klavierstücke” de Karlheinz Stockhausen étudiés avec l’Auteur qui lui décerna, au séminaire 2005 de Kürten, le “Stockhausen Preize” pour la meilleure interprétation du “Klavierstück X”.
Si une partie significative de la carrière de Reiko Hozu s’est déroulée à l’étranger, notamment en Allemagne (Festival du Schleswig-Holstein), à Vienne, à Genève (Victoria Hall), en Italie, à Opéra City Hall de Tokyo, à Kumho Art Hall en Corée et jusqu’en Islande…
On a pu l’apprécier également sur France-Musiques (émissions de T.Beauvert en particulier) France2 (“Le Carnaval des animaux” dans “Musique au cœur”, avec Eve Ruggiéri-Récitante) Mezzo, et Arte, ainsi que Salle Gaveau, Salle Pleyel, le Théâtre du Châtelet, Musée d’Orsay, les festivals de Sceaux, du Périgord, “Piano Passion” à St.-Etienne, “Artepiano” à Agen...
Elle collabore aussi avec des partenaires tels que violoniste Alexander & Albert Markov, Noah Bendix-Balgley (1er violon solo de Philharmonique de Berlin), violoncelliste Kyril Zlotnikov, en 2016 on lui décerna également le Prix de meilleur récital de la saison au festival Musée en Musique à Grenoble avec le violoniste Mohamed Hiber.
Elle a réalisé plusieurs enregistrements avec Raymond Guiot, Noah Bendix-Balgley (1er violon Solo de Berlinphilhaomoniker), ainsi que des Albums Piano Solo « SCRIABISM » et « Souvenirs » chez Animarecord, CD consacré à Ravel, Albeniz, Dupin.
Ancienne pianiste officielle des Concours Long-Thibaud, Rampal et Rostropovitch, Reiko Hozu est aujourd’hui professeur de la lecture à vue et de licence d’accompagnement au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris et Pôle Sup 93.

Reiko Hozu's interpretations of modern classical piano repertoire have drawn accolades from audiences and composers alike, repertoire that includes music of Ravel, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Berg, Berio, Ligeti, and Kagel. Karlheinz Stockhausen notably singled out Reiko in 2005, bestowing upon her the prize for interpretation of the Klavierstücke X (Piano Pieces X) at his annual festival in Kürten near Köln, Germany. Stockhausen's repertoire is a natural vehicle for Reiko's highly-charged and personal style of performing, calling for extended techniques on the piano, but also for extensive choreography, speaking, singing, and playing percussion at the same time. Reiko's enthusiasm and flexibility on stage have led to many successful collaborations.
A significant part of Reiko Hozu’s career has taken place outside France, in Germany (Schleswig-Holstein Festival), Vienna, Geneva (Victoria Hall), Italy, Iceland, Tokyo (Opera City Hall), and in Seoul (Kumho Art Hall). In France, she has appeared as a soloist in Paris at the Opéra Garnier (Petrouchka conducted by Paul Connelly), at the Cité de la Musique (Kammerkonzert by Alban Berg), and in 3 Petites Liturgies de la Présence Divine by Olivier Messiaen, with orchestras of Radio-France, the O.F.J. under conductor Emmanuel Krivine, and the Orchestre Colonne. In 2004, she was the soloist in Stravinsky’s Concerto with the Orchestre National d’Ile de France with the conductor Jonathan Stockhammer. She has played in venues such as Salle Gaveau, Salle Pleyel, and the Théâtre du Châtelet, and appeared at festivals in Sceaux, Périgord, St. Etienne (Piano Passion), and in Agen (Artepiano). Her performances have been broadcast on the radio (France-Musiques) and television (Arte, Mezzo, FR3).

In 1996, she received a “Soloist Diploma” from the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, Germany, after studying with Oleg Maisenberg. She then entered the Postgraduate class of Homero Francesch at the Zürich Konservatorium, Switzerland, where she was awarded the Landolt Prize. She also worked closely with Yevgeny Malinin, making her a privileged interpreter of the great Russian and romantic works for piano. In France, she developed her artistic personality by working with musicians such as Jean Hubeau, Jean Koerner, Jacques Rouvier, Alain Marion, Raymond Guiot, Michèle Auclair and Jorge Donn.
She was also the Official Pianist for the Long-Thibaud Competition, Jean-Pierre Rampal Competition, and the Rostropovitch Competition in Paris.
As Chamber Music partener, she collaborates with the violinistes Alexander & Albert Markov, Noah Bendix-Balgley (1st violin solo of BerlinPhilharmoniker), celliste Kyril Zlotnikov, in 2016 Reiko got the Best performer Prize in the festival Musée en Musique à Grenoble with violiniste Mohamed Hiber.
She also produced some records with Raymond Guiot, Noah Bendix-Balgley and as solo-piano’s album « SCRIABISM » and « Souvenirs » by Animarecord CD. (Ravel, Albeniz, Dupin)
In recital, Reiko often includes pieces from epochs that range from the Baroque to world-premieres, hoping to open dialogue between music that audiences have long absorbed and new pieces which are being heard for the first time. Reiko now makes her home in Paris. Since 2000, she has been a Professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris.
