 Sophie Labandibar, born in Biarritz in 1982, received her first piano lesson at the age of three from Ada Labèque. By fourteen, she was admitted to the class of Alain Planès and Emmanuel Strosser at the “Conservatoire National Supèrieur de Musique et de Danse” In Paris.

After graduation, she pursued her studies further at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen (Germany) under Prof. Boris Bloch and Prof. Michael Roll. In 2004 Sophie returned to the Conservatoire in Paris to study chamber music with Claire Désert and Ami Flammer. Her studies have enabled her to work and play with such musicians as Young Chang Cho, Andreas Reiner, Vladimir Mendelssohn and Christian Ivaldi.

Sophie currently work as the studio accompanist and assistant for the class of Phillippe Bernold in the Conservatoire National Supèrieur de Lyon (France), as well as at the Folwang Hochschule in Essen for the class of the cellist Young Chang Cho. She performs as an accompanist regularly in various festivals and major international competitions, including Pablo Casals-Festival (Prades, France) Pianofestival “La Roque d’Anthéron” (France), Festival Radio France (Montpellier, France), Cellofest (Belgrade, Serbia), “Concours Jean Pierre Rampal”, and “Concours Maxence Larrieu”. She has also assisted in orchestra auditions such as for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam. In 2013 Sophie’s performance of the Beethoven, Barber and Prokofiev sonatas with Young Chang Cho form the festival de “Radio France in Montpellier 2007” was released as part of the album “Cho-Live” for the Telos Music Label.She also record in 2013 for the dutch Label Challenge.abel C
