Amy LIN est concertiste et professeur de piano au Conservatoire et l’Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg depuis 1998. Elle a fait ses études aux États-Unis au Conservatoire Peabody avec le maître Léon Fleisher de 1981-1990. Pendant ces dix années elle s’est imprégnée de la tradition musicale issue de Beethoven: Léon Fleisher était élève d’Arthur Schnabel qui a perpétué l’esprit musical de Beethoven en étudiant avec Leschetizky, lui même élève de Czerny qui fut l’étudiant le plus célèbre de Beethoven.
Après avoir obtenu son Master et Artist Diploma de Peabody, Amy Lin a étudié avec Gerhard Oppitz et obtenu le Meisterklassendiplom de la Musikhochschule de Munich. Elle a aussi été invitée par le pianiste Fou Ts’ong à travailler avec lui à lac de Côme. Ses maîtres lui reconnaissent une intelligence musicale et une sensibilité artistique exceptionnelles, notamment dans le répertoire classique de Mozart, Beethoven et Schubert qu’elle a interprété à de nombreuses reprises en soliste ou avec orchestres en Autriche, France, Allemagne, Suisse, Italie, Belgique, Lettonie, États-Unis, Japon, Corée du sud, Taïwan, Brésil et Nouvelle-Calédonie.
Le répertoire d’Amy Lin est aussi riche que varié. Elle excelle en particulier dans l’interprétation des œuvres de la tradition viennoise de Schubert, Beethoven et Mozart. Depuis quelques années, elle manifeste un intérêt prononcé pour le répertoire contemporain. Elle entretient d’ailleurs des relations amicales avec les compositeurs dont elle interprète les œuvres.
Récemment Amy Lin a enregistré l’intégrale des sonates de Mozart, le coffret sortira en cinq CDs chez Coviello Classics en Allemagne prochainement. Son dernier disque a été diffuser sur France Musique en décembre 2021: « Un Mozart pure et directe d’Amy Lin ». Amy Lin a également enregistré CDs de Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, Chou Wen-Chung, Qigang Chen, Tan Dun, Zhou Long, Chen Yi, Keeyong Chong et Xiaoyong Chen.
Passionnée autant par l’enseignement que pour ses tournées de concertiste, Amy Lin est régulièrement invitée à donner des master-classes et enseigner dans des conservatoires prestigieux, comme récemment à l’Université Yale et Northwestern (USA), l’Université Nationale de Séoul, Musikhochschule de Weimar, Zurich, et Koninklijk Conservatorium de Bruxelles. Actuellement elle est coordinatrice du département de claviers à l’Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg ( Haute École des Arts du Rhin), où elle inspire ses étudiants qui viennent du monde entier.

Amy Lin was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States with her family as a youngster. She began studying the piano at the age of five, dividing her time between two passions: music and mathematics. She worked with the renowned pianist Leon Fleisher intensively for ten years at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, earning a Master’s degree and Artist Diploma after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Johns Hopkins University. As a direct descendant from the « Beethoven school » ( through Czerny, Leschetizky, Schnabel and Fleisher), Amy Lin takes special interests in the music of Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert. In order to further her understanding of the great German traditions, she spent two years in Germany where she worked with pianist Gerhard Oppitz at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and was awarded the Meisterklassendiplom.
Amy Lin made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC as winner of the Young Soloists’ Competition in 1981 and has since appeared in recital and as soloist with orchestra in the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Latvia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, New Caledonia and Brazil. Ms. Lin’s repertoire is wide-ranging and diverse, she excels particularly in the music of the great Viennese tradition. Recently she has also become interested in the music of contemporary composers, many of them have entrusted her with performance of new works.
Amy Lin recently recorded the complete sonatas of Mozart for the German label Coviello Classics. German press described her CD: « Mozart’s entire wealth of musical ideas is revealed in Amy Lin’s puristic interpretation. »; French radio station France Musique presented her CD: « A pure and direct Mozart of Amy Lin ». She has also recorded CDs of piano music compositions of Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy , and of Asian composers Chou Wen-Chung, Qigang Chen, Xiaoyong Chen, Keeyong Chong, Chen Yi, Zhou Long and Tan Dun.
As an inspiring and much sought-after teacher, Amy Lin is a professor and head of the keyboard department at the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg and professor at the Conservatory of Strasbourg in France. She is frequently invited to give masterclasses and teach in leading music schools, such as Yale University, Northwestern University, Peabody Institute (USA), Seoul National University (South Korea), Taipei National Arts University (Taiwan), Musikhichschule of Weimar (Germany), Zurich, Basel (Switzerland) and Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Belgium). Ms. Lin enjoys sharing her passion for music with students who come from around the world; many of them have gone on to lead active and successful musical lives.
