Jacqueline Ross, lune des rares violonistes à jouer des instruments modernes et dépoque, connaît une carrière exceptionnelle et diversifiée. Née à New-York, elle commence ses études à la Juilliard School, où elle étudie avec Joseph Fuchs. Elle se rend ensuite en Europe pour poursuivre une formation en musique contemporaine avec Saschko Gawriloff à Cologne, et étudier le violon baroque avec Lucy van Dael à Amsterdam, avec laquelle elle a joué le répertoire pour deux violons du 17ème et 18ème siècle. Ses enregistrements ont été acclamés par la critique, notamment lintégrale des sonates pour violon seul et des Partitas de JS Bach. Récemment, elle a enregistré luvre complète pour violon et piano de Franz Schubert chez Naxos Records.
Outre sa carrière de concertiste, Jacqueline est une pédagogue dévouée vers laquelle se tournent un grand nombre détudiants internationaux de haut niveau. Elle est actuellement en poste à la Guildhall School of Music and Drama à Londres. Elle est régulièrement invitée à donner des Masterclass à létranger, que ce soit par la Juilliard School, le Curtis Institute, et des conservatoires en Europe ou en Asie. One of the few violinists performing on both modern and period instruments, Jacqueline Ross has enjoyed a unique and varied career. Born in New York, she began her studies at the Juilliard School, where she was a student of Joseph Fuchs. She then moved to Europe, continuing studies in contemporary music with Saschko Gawriloff in Cologne: and baroque violin with Lucy van Dael in Amsterdam, with whom she has performed 17th and 18th century music for two violins. Her recordings have met with high critical acclaim, most notably with the complete Solo Sonatas and Partitas of JS Bach. She has recently recorded the complete works for violin and piano by Franz Schubert for Naxos Records.
In addition to performing, Jacqueline is also a dedicated teacher, and attracts a large international following of advanced students. She currently holds a Professorship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She is regularly invited to give masterclasses internationally, which include the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute, and Conservatories throughout Europe and the Far East. She has also adjudicated at major international competitions such as the Menuhin, Salzburg Mozart, Leopold Mozart, Isang Yun, Markneukirchen, and Charles Hennen Competitions.
Her research into style and performance practice has been supported by the Dutch Arts and Humanities Research Board, The British Council, Birmingham Conservatoire, London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
